More on the wedding annoucements. . .

Originally, I purchased a Combo pack of Strathmore?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Creative Cards Announcement Envelopes plus Cardstock at Prism Art Supply here in Indianapolis for about $2.50. They were on sale, and are normally $4. Then, I figured out that I only wanted to use the envelopes that come in the combo pack, since the cardstock that comes with the combo pack is hot press watercolor paper and doesn’t look distressed enough (and it would be hard to tear in order to make the edges distressed).

For the actual announcement, I am using 22″ ?É‚Äî 30″ 140 lb sheets of cold press water color paper. I am buying these at Prism Art Supply for about $2.50 each. I am tearing one side with a ruler to get a nice straight edge and the other three edges I am hand ripping to get the jagged edge. I can get about 36 announcements out of each sheet. That?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s about 7 cents an announcement.

So I looked around the Internet for places that just sell the envelopes. It took a few hours, but I found one. It is a place called Marco’s Paper. This is a paper store in Centerville, OH–wherever that is. I am purchasing a 250 pack of #4 (3 5/8″ x 5 1/8″) 80# Text Strathmore Pastelle Announcement Envelopes (square flaps - acid free, Natural White with deckled flap) for $50 ($40 + $9 shipping). That’s 20 cents an envelope! I don’t recommend buying paper products off the Internet unless you know exactly what you are getting. I read the back of the Combo box in order to know what I wanted. The one caveat is that they only have them in Natural White and not in Ivory, but I still think it’s a good deal.

What someone said at my church home group was right, the postage ($.39) is the biggest expense of sending an announcement if you are making it yourself.

Rachel is considering carving out wood blocks for the invitations-more on that later.
