Pre-marital counseling: session one

Well, our first session of pre-marital counseling with our pastor, Tom Macy, was last night. I thought it went well. We managed to contradict ourselves with the relationship inventory test (similar to a personality test). If I heard right, it said we both had realistic perceptions of what marriage would be like (no rose-colored glasses) but it also said we both liked to minimize problems. I don’t see that as very contradictary. We both know there will be problems, but we aren’t worried about them. It sounds like a good thing to me.

I also managed to list a strength that the test was a “growth area.” I was thinking relatively. Or course, we are going to have issues in that area–every couple does, but I don’t ours will be as bad as others. This premise seems prove true what I said at the end of the previous paragraph.
