The printer (and “a little paper”)

Rachel’s all-in-one HP printer doesn’t work, so I’m buying her a new printer. I’m buying her an Epson R220, because it can print on DVDs. We have an R220 at work and I spent five hours one day figuring out how to get the thing to print from Adobe Illustrator onto CD/DVD media. It’s something that a lot of people want to do since the top 2 links at Google when you are search for “R220 print from illustrator” are links to my Amazon review and my media blog which is a good feeling I haven’t had since the poetry knook was in the top 10 sites for “teen love poetry” back 2001.

Anyway, so I was going to just buy the printer from a local Staples, then I starting searching for online Stapes coupons and found a coupon for a free 10 ream box of copy paper ($30 value) with a $100 purchase, so I added 12 cardboard storage boxes and pushed the purchase over $100.

So that’s a printer, a heavy box of paper, and twelve card boxes shipped for $110 (shipping was free on purchases over $50). It doesn’t make any sense, but it was a good deal.

Generic Inkjet Cartridges:

So after buying the printer, I searched for generic inkjet cartridges and found SuperMediaStore.com recommended on some random message board. They have 12 R220 ink cartridges for $44. By the way, the actual Epson brand cartridges are $18 each, and I need 6 of them. So you ask about quality of generic bands? The same messageboard said that the cartridges are the same generic “G&G brand” which is what I currently use on my Epson 880, so it should be the same quality of ink that I use currently and am very happy with (the announcements were printed with generic ink cartridges).
