Stephen’s Book Reading list
Rachel and I frequent our local public library for books, audio books, and the occasional movie. It’s not that irregular for me to take a box with me to our library branch. The decline of reading books (and other long formats) will not have a corollary effect on knowledge, but will affect on concentration and critical thinking. I also read or listen to a variety of magazines, podcasts, and lectures. Below are the ten most recent books I have either read or am currently reading.
- The Quiet American (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition)
- To Live or to Perish Forever: Two Tumultuous Years in Pakistan
- The Peasant Prince: Thaddeus Kosciuszko and the Age of Revolution
- The Elegance of the Hedgehog
- In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto
- The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals
- Dead Aid: Why Aid Is Not Working and How There Is a Better Way for Africa
- Bobos in Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There
- The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism
- True Enough: Learning to Live in a Post-Fact Society
